February 2008:
Continuing to Partner with AARP
Volunteers in Medicine is continuing to partner with AARP to emphasize the critical need for affordable health care and spread the word about the work of Volunteers in Medicine. The national office has received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the Divided We Fail testimonials that AARP conducted with VIM Alliance members during the national conference. Much discussion is taking place within AARP to decide how best to use this footage.
One outcome of these interviews has been a follow-up film project with the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank, New Jersey that will run as a TV show on the AARP cable channel. Focusing the spotlight on one of the Volunteers in Medicine clinics benefits not only the individual clinic and its local community, but also helps to recognize Volunteers in Medicine on the national level. Together, the national office and Volunteers in Medicine clinics continue to deliver quality health care to America’s uninsured.
