Community VIM Appoints New President and CEO

Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) announces the appointment of Maureen Tomoschuk as its new President and CEO.   Ms. Tomoschuk will assume her duties upon the retirement of founding President and CEO Helen F. Heidelbaugh on June 30, 2008. 

Serving as Senior Director of Emergency Services of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross for the past six years, Ms. Tomoschuk was responsible for the management of over 3,000 staff and volunteers who delivered disaster and emergency response services in the five county area.  During her tenure, she worked to develop the award winning Southeastern Pennsylvania Voluntary Organization Active in Disaster program for the region.  In addition, she oversaw the Red Cross House, Facility Operations, Social Services, Family and Community Recovery programs, International Social Services and Armed Forces Emergency Communications.

Prior to joining the American Red Cross, Ms. Tomoschuk served as Assistant Hospital Administrator at Mercy Community Hospital, Mercy Health System in Havertown for 12 years.  She holds a masters degree in Social Work from Rutgers State University and completed her undergraduate work at Pennsylvania State University.  Ms. Tomoschuk received the American Red Cross Spirit of Excellence Management Award in 2003 and the National Association of Social Workers, Pennsylvania Division Social Worker of the Year in 2006.

Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), located in West Chester, is a community and volunteer based health care facility founded in 1998 to provide free primary medical and dental services to uninsured individuals and families who live or work in Chester County – the working poor. More than 90,000 Chester County residents meet the criteria of making at or below 300% of poverty level.  Many receive vital services at CVIM from a small core staff and more than 200 volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, health educators, dieticians and other medical professionals as well as non-clinical support staff.
